I thought I should try to get this blog back on track and post something about books!
While I was on holiday, I managed to finish A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry. I would have to say that this is a political book about the period of time in Mumbai when the government cracked down called The Emergency by the Prime Minister, Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi. If this book is any indication of what went on during that time I must say I don't think Mahatma would not have thought very highly of her political iron fist.
I have to say that I liked and felt for the four main characters and many of the sub-characters. But the book does have a lot of bleakness to it. The characters are traumatized by the events which seem to come on as one terrible situation after another, yet they are forced to quietly accept fate and move on. characters are traumatized by the events which they cannot control, they are forced to quietly accept fate and move on.
I was drained, emotionally, by the end. But I wanted to know what final fate was meant for them.
This is certainly not a light-hearted read but certainly a story that was meant to be told and shared.

On a lighter note, I am still in the middle of Hotel Du Lac. I am enjoying it and really like Brookner's style of writing. I will have to report back once I finish.

I have been thinking about wanting to print a book of photographs for some time using Blurb. I decided that I would use the images from my trip to Honduras as my first book and something was can have as a keepsake for the trip.
Speaking of...here is another image:
