I have been enfeebled the past few days and I really hate feeling poorly! There is only so much daytime telly that one person can take. REALLY... if I have to listen to that crazy frog ring tone advert again someone is definitely going to pay!
But earlier in the week, Claire and I did get a chance to meet Meredith and had such a great evening out. Meredith was every bit of lovely I thought she would be. She brought both Claire and I gifts in these lovely boxes. For me - Hershey Kisses, The soundtrack to A Lot Like Love (which I am listening to right now and it's really good), Red Dirt handmade soap, Burt's Bees head to toe starter kit and an Eskimo Joe's key chain -- all from Oklahoma. I was so touched as it was so unexpected and she really didn't have to but it was so nice that she did. Meredith - thank you so much and you really shouldn't have!! (big hug)
Claire and I wanted to give her something that would be special to Bristol - we decided on a handmade pin by a local potter, a CD of 'brit' bands, and handmade card by quite a famous local artist. We also gave her a Beefeater Bear to take back to Ally. We also thought it would be nice to treat her to an evening out in Bristol so we ended up at Yia Mass for Mezze and drinks. After lots of girly chat we went to have drinks by the harbour and before we knew it...the night was over! Claire has some picture she will hopefully post on her site soon. It was such a cool experience to meet someone that shares our same love of 'blogging' but also so many other things. I am really looking forward to reading her thoughts on her first trip to England.
My weekend plans aren't much but I am glad that it is a long weekend. Besides resting and getting over this unpleasant lurgy I am needing to go through things and finish the process of culling down on what I am taking back to Dallas. I have been getting quotes this week from shipping companies and let's just say it is expensive to ship things across the pond! I might have to start a 'Dallas or Bust' fund raising appeal - donations will be gratefully accepted. Hey, I will even take personal cheques! =)
Tonight I am resting up still. My housemate and I are going to watch Dodgeball which I am sure is going to make me laugh-out-loud! I am not expecting much on this one.
I have been catching up on old episodes of Scrubs (I just love this show). In the episode today we are clued in to JD's love of the band Journey. OK, anyone out there who lived through the late 70's & 80's knows they were hoping when Open Arms started playing at the Friday night sock-hop that their high school crush would come over and ask them to slow dance....otherwise we all know your lyin! The song they were singing on the episode is my song of the day! Zach Braff just makes me laugh too - the guy is just funny. He is currently filming in Montreal - go check out his latest blog entry for amusement!
Song of the DAY: Don't Stop Believin' by Journey (I even included lyrics in case you want to sing along - c'mon you know you want to!)
Just a small town girl, livin' in a lonely world
She took the midnight train goin' anywhere
Just a city boy, born and raised in south Detroit
He took the midnight train goin' anywhere
A singer in a smokey room
A smell of wine and cheap perfume
For a smile they can share the night
It goes on and on and on and on
Strangers waiting, up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searching in the night
Streetlight people, living just to find emotion
Hiding, somewhere in the night
Working hard to get my fill,
everybody wants a thrill
Payin' anything to roll the dice,
just one more time
Some will win, some will lose
Some were born to sing the blues
Oh, the movie never ends
It goes on and on and on and on
(chorus)
Don't stop believin'
Hold on to the feelin'
Streetlight people
My current iMood:

Awwwwww-thanks! I really enjoyed meeting both of you and what a great gabfest we had! Glad you enjoyed the presents, I had fun picking them out with you two in mind! And thanks so much for the great gifts. I felt very special and I know Ally is going to go gaga over the Beefeater Bear!
It was a wonderful night out and one that I think needs repeating (maybe in a whole other country perhaps?), but this time-my treat! Naughty girls! :)
