I have been tagged! Thanks to BookGirl for this music meme.
My music taste is certainly eclectic – I like a little bit of everything. My main passion is for Indie rock. Give me an amazing voice, fantastic lyrics and an acoustic guitar and I am one happy girl. I like unique talent and artists who are even a little quirky. My other tastes lean towards alternative, classical, world music and if the mood is right and the song is good, even Rap on occasion. Not a fan of the Country music genre but have come to like the Dixie Chicks and I do enjoy a little bit of folksy rock.
Total amount of music files on your computer: 615 songs in my Tunes library. I don’t really like storing music on my computer and I still love going to the record store and sifting through CDs which I am sure I have over 300 stacked neatly in the corner of my room. Just like my book list, the music list keeps growing too.
The last CD you bought was: Folklore by Nelly Fertado
What is the song you last listened to before reading this message: Loneliest Girl by Cary Brothers
Write down 5 songs you often listen to or that mean a lot to you:
I found this difficult because there are so many more than 5 but I will try to narrow it down!
EZ by Pete Yorn - Music For The Morning After is a great album and I just love his voice. He dissects life's disappointments throughout this album. This song to me is about having to walk away from a relationship when you have given the other person too many chances and you can no longer find forgiveness. It is about missed opportunity.
Lucky by Melissa Etheridge - This has been my theme song lately. I have a lot of respect for Melissa. I have also seen her live and not only is she an incredible musician and songwriter she stands strong in her beliefs and lives life on her own terms. The woman rocks and for me this song is about landing on the other side of a difficult time in life and feeling that anything is possible and rediscovering yourself. It is also about that feeling of high you get when you fall in love.
Somewhere Over The Rainbow/Wonderful World by Israel Kamakawiwo`ole – This is definitely one of my ‘happy’ songs and all time favourite tune. I especially love this unique Hawaiian version of the Judy Garland classic. A song about the splendour of dreams and making them come true and about finding our way home. A song about looking for the beauty that surrounds us in the world.
I Hope That I Don’t Fall In Love by Tom Waits – There are a few good versions of this song but I like the original best. It is a great song for a slow dance as there is something sexy about it. I guess it makes me think about those moments when you are admiring someone at a distance and just something about them makes you fall in love. Hope someone looks at me like that one day!
Trouble Me by the 10,000 Maniacs – Although the band is no longer together I still remember this concert. I was 19 and I saw them at an amphitheatre in Philadelphia. Perfect night. Under the stars. I am still a huge fan of Natalie Merchant who was the lead singer and have been lucky enough to see her live three times. Another great talent. This is a song about wanting to help someone you care about who is too afraid to ask.
So, before I want to add another thousand songs to this list (I promised myself an early night) I am going to find a few others to join for the ride on this musical carousel!
Meredith – Because reading her blog always makes me smile and I would love to hear a bit more about her musical tastes.
Last Girl On Earth - I found my way to this site and so glad I did. She is a singer/songwriter and would certainly value what she has to say.
Tania with an I – another new blog friend and would love to find out a bit more about her.
Good choices! As you know I also love Pete Yorn (thanks to you!!) and I also struggled to get mine limited to 5 I could go forever!

Great list, Christine! Hopefully someday, you will add my new CD to that list of yours. I'm honored that you tagged me, although it's going to be a couple of days before I can get to it. But I'll let you know when I do! Maybe I'll even play and post a snippet of each tune!?!?!(Now that I know how to do it!) Anyhow, thanks for the lovely comments.
I'll see you soon.xo
PS We should link up, huh? I'll get on that right now!

Awesome list - just what I expected from you Chica. What do you think of the Nelly Furtado CD?
